On 1 July 2025, members of the Children’s Advisory Team (CAT) took part in consultations on the draft General Comment No. 27 (GC27), which focuses on children’s rights to access to justice and effective remedies. These consultations are part of a broader effort led by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, which has issued a call for submissions to gather input from all relevant stakeholders on the draft.

Organized by Child Rights Connect, the consultations aimed to ensure that children’s voices are central to the development of this new international standard. CAT members reviewed the draft General Comment and engaged in discussions designed to gather their views on how justice systems can better serve children. Their contributions informed the final version of GC27, which seeks to strengthen legal frameworks and promote equitable access to justice for all children, regardless of background or circumstance.
