On 13 December 2025, Child Rights Connect and its Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict hosted an online consultation with children from conflict-affected countries and the representative of the European Union, who is the penholder of the next Human Rights Council Resolution on children’s rights.

Members of our Child Advisory Team (CATs) played a key role in this event. Layan explained in her presentation how children’s rights are violated by armed conflict, focusing on the CRC Convention. Karen facilitated an ice-breaker activity during the opening session, which created a welcoming and interactive space for participants. Tahera served as the child rapporteur of the consultation and delivered thoughtful closing remarks. She is also one of the authors of the child-friendly report.

Children shared their perspectives and recommendations to ensure the upcoming resolution reflects their realities and rights. They engaged actively in discussions, supported by trusted adults and partner organizations, creating a safe and inclusive space for meaningful dialogue. The consultation was productive and collaborative, providing space for meaningful child participation that will help shape the resolution. Find more information here.
