Our Approach

We believe that children’s rights can only become a reality for every child, if all States fulfill their obligations to promote and protect children’s rights, and if children are empowered to claim their rights.

With a global perspective two main actors are responsible to ensure this:

  • Civil Society empowers rights holders (children) to know and claim their rights. Children’s rights defenders, including children, hold States accountable and support them to fulfil their obligations.
  • The United Nations develop and ratify international human rights instruments, such as the UN CRC and its Optional Protocols. Through their mechanisms, they hold States accountable to fulfil their duties.
Our Approach

Why Child Rights Connect?

  • We empower children’s rights defenders, including children, to influence and use the UN human rights system for change at national level.

  • We work with the United Nations human rights system to make it a better mechanism for change in children’s rights practices.
