Participation of the Children’s Advisory Team at the meeting of the Executive Committee

At the meeting of the Executive Committee (ExCo) of Child Rights Connect that took place on December 3, 2025, when the 3 members of the Bureau of the Children’s Advisory Team (CAT) shared key updates on their work throughout the year.

Denis focused on education as a fundamental right, working on a new optional protocol for free primary and secondary schooling. He contributed to Committee on the Rights of the Child General Comment No. 26 consultations and represented children’s voices at UN events.

Layan shared her work around the topic of Children Affected by Armed Conflict, especially in relation to prolonged school closures. She also spoke about the global consultations carried out by the CAT with over 1,200 children and her advocacy for early childhood rights.

Tahera shared her experiences with several projects and emphasized how education is a form of hope and equality. She also contributed to discussions on AI and children’s rights and called for more inclusive decision-making platforms.

The child advisors also had a discussion with the ExCo members about the role of Child Rights Connect and child participation, furthermore about collaboration with local organizations, stressing bridges between children and decision-makers, stronger NGO partnerships, and collective decision-making platforms.
