2026 Edition of the Human Rights Council’s Annual Day on the Rights of the Child to Take Place on 9 March in Geneva
On 9 March 2026, from 11:00 to 17:00 CET (or 10:30 to 16:30), the Palace of Nations in Geneva, home to the United Nations Office, will host the 61st Human Rights Council’s Annual Day on the Rights of the Child (ADRC). This year’s session will bring together States, United Nations representatives, children, and other stakeholders to discuss key issues related to children and armed conflict.
This year’s Annual Day will feature two thematic panels, each addressing a different dimension of children’s rights in armed conflict:
  • The Morning Panel will focus on mainstreaming the rights of children in armed conflict: prevention and protection
  • The Afternoon panel will discuss mainstreaming the rights of children in armed conflict: reintegration and recovery, remedies and reparation

Both panels will include meaningful child participation. We invite States to review our Guidance Note on Child Participation, available here, as a reminder of the required procedures and good practices for engaging with children in these discussions.

We also encourage all other participants to join and contribute to the enriching dialogue.

The event will also be accessible online. You can follow the discussions here.
