On 9 September, an online webinar titled Advancing Children’s Right to a Healthy Environment was held to launch new guidance on General Comment No. 26 (GC26). The event was part of the How To Child Rights series and organized by Child Rights Connect’s WG on Child Rights and the Environment, CERI, Terre des Hommes, and Save the Children.  As part of the launch, Denis and Dulce, child advisors at Child Rights Connect, played a key role in launching the School Kit on Children’s Environmental Rights and Climate Change, developed in consultation with their peers from the Children’s Advisory Team (CAT). This initiative supports children in understanding and advocating for their right to a clean and healthy environment, as emphasized in General Comment No. 26 by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.

The School Kit includes a presentation designed to explain peers their rights and the impact of climate change on the enjoyment of these rights. It also features an activity guide and two workbooks tailored for younger children (aged 7 to 12) and adolescents (aged 13 to 17). These resources, available in English, French and Spanish, empower children to introduce and engage with these important topics in both their classrooms and communities and mobilize their peers.
