In March 2026, the Human Rights Council adopted a resolution on the rights of children affected by armed conflict.

But what does the resolution actually say? And how can children use it to speak up for their rights?

Our new child-friendly guide explains the resolution in a way that is easy to understand. It sets out what governments should do to protect children before, during and after armed conflict, and how children can use the resolution to ask questions, speak up and call for action.

Children’s voices helped shape the resolution from the start. For the first time, children were directly consulted before the resolution was drafted, and their recommendations were taken forward into the final text. The guide shows clearly where children’s ideas can be found in the resolution – from education and participation to healthcare, protection and justice.
